 Business Processes

A well-structured business process is one that is standardized. This means that each branch of the company is held to set corporate standards that they must meet every day. Six Flags has been able to carry out all of the corporate standards in their day-to-day operations for the past 60 years. With COVID-19 being a huge part of Six Flags' operations over the last year, this blog will focus on the information systems they use to prevent COVID-19 cases in their parks.

Preventing COVID-19 in the Parks

Since parks started to reopen in the US, Six Flags has been putting in new safety steps to prevent the spread of COVID-19 on their properties. The main things they have done are putting up signs, announcements over the park speakers, and markers for people to stand on. All of these things are saying keep your masks up and stay social distanced. Their "Do the Six" slogan is another way to simplify what they want people to be practicing in the parks. The technology the park has introduced since last season was contactless temperature screening and security checks. For the temperature screening, Six Flags has been able to utilize thermal imaging for all guests walking into the park. For security, they are using more of a metal section screening. This means that as you walk through there will be images of anything in your bags or pockets, and if there is anything that may be ruled as dangerous, there will be a beep, and the individual will be pulled off to the side for a more thorough screening.

Information System Components

There are five main components for information systems. They include hardware, software, data, procedures, and people. All of these exist in order to make sure Six Flags is creating the best experiences for guests.

Hardware: The hardware that exists for Six Flags in terms of the new types of screenings put into place would be the new metal detectors put into place. These are used in order to make sure everyone that enters the park is not a threat to the people around them, and ensure that everyone entering will be safe.

Software: The software that Six Flags has been using is being seen through the thermal readings that are done in order to check guests' temperatures at the gates. Without this software, there would have to be more direct human contact.

Data: Both forms of technology that Six Flags has presented due to COVID-19 collect data. The data would be the temperatures of all of the guests entering the park to make sure no one is showing a fever and the contents of people's bags to ensure that there are no threats entering the parks.

Procedures: The procedures that have been introduced are sanitizing the rides and commonly touched areas like benches and handrails. Both of these make sure that guests are having clean experiences on the rides and sitting down enjoying a meal or just a small break from walking.

People: All of these procedures are monitored by all of the Six Flags team members, supervisors, the safety department, and the security department. This ensures that everyone is understanding and following all of the procedures to keep all guests safe at the parks.

Social Media

Social media has become a huge tool for spreading information in multiple ways. This is a way for Six Flags to get news out, share special events, share in-park discounts, and advertising. Six Flags utilizes Twitter, Instagram, and Facebook to do all of these things for each park.
